Yes. Plugs, jacks, multipin connectors, terminal blocks and extension leads are alloy-specific, so a type K plug on a type J circuit introduces error at every junction. Order the same calibration letter as the thermocouple, and use extension grade wire only to the point where the signal reaches the instrument.
