MEPCO inverted bucket steam traps, such as the IB13-3-30 and IB11-3-125G, use a cast iron body and operate on the density difference between steam and condensate. They are available in in-line configurations for horizontal installation, with capacities from 955 lb/hr at 125 psi to 4,000 lb/hr at 30 psi, and maximum temperatures up to 450°F. MEPCO thermostatic steam traps, such as the TH-2C-APG and 1E-APG, use a brass body and a temperature-sensitive element to discharge condensate and air. They are offered in angle configurations with capacities from 1,200 lb/hr to 4,100 lb/hr and maximum pressures of 25 psi or 125 psi. Selection depends on operating pressure, temperature, capacity, and piping orientation.

MEPCO brass angle thermostatic steam traps are available with FNPT inlets of 1/2 in, 3/4 in, and 1 in. For example, the TH-1C-APG has a 1/2 in FNPT inlet and 1,200 lb/hr capacity at 125 psi. The 1E-APG has a 1/2 in FNPT inlet and 1,270 lb/hr capacity at 25 psi. The 2E-APG has a 3/4 in FNPT inlet and 2,450 lb/hr capacity at 25 psi. The TH-3C-APG and 3C-APG have 1 in FNPT inlets, with capacities of 2,500 lb/hr and 4,100 lb/hr respectively at 125 psi. All are angle body designs without integral strainers unless otherwise specified.

MEPCO inverted bucket steam traps in cast iron are rated for maximum pressures of 30 psi or 125 psi, depending on the model. The IB13-3-30 is rated for 30 psi maximum pressure and 450°F maximum temperature, with a capacity of 4,000 lb/hr. The IB11-3-125G is rated for 125 psi maximum pressure and 345°F maximum temperature, with a capacity of 955 lb/hr. Both have 3/4 in FNPT connections and are configured for in-line horizontal installation. These ratings apply to the trap body and internal components under the specified operating conditions.

MEPCO steam traps are available both with and without integral strainers. The product data for the inverted bucket models IB13-3-30 and IB11-3-125G indicates strainer not included. The brass angle thermostatic models TH-2C-APG, TH-1C-APG, TH-3C-APG, and 3C-APG are also specified without strainers. The 1E-APG and 2E-APG do not list a strainer in their specifications. Selection of a MEPCO steam trap depends on several factors: operating pressure, operating temperature, condensate load, connection size, and piping orientation. Determine the maximum pressure and temperature of the steam system, then calculate the condensate load in lb/hr. Match these to the trap ratings. For example, a system operating at 125 psi with a condensate load of 2,500 lb/hr could use the TH-3C-APG, which has a 1 in FNPT inlet and 2,500 lb/hr capacity at 125 psi. For higher capacity at lower pressure, the 2E-APG provides 2,450 lb/hr at 25 psi with a 3/4 in FNPT inlet.
