Start with the taper tap for initial threading, then use the plug tap to deepen threads, and finish with the bottoming tap for threads close to the hole bottom. For through-holes, the taper and plug taps are usually sufficient. Always use cutting fluid and align the tap perpendicular to the workpiece.
